On Tuesday after the storm had passed, our neighbor who has a son Caroline's age and a daughter Bryce's age, called to ask if we could get the kids together.  Since it was raining, clearly they'd have to play inside and rather than having one person bear the brunt, we decided on a kid swap.  My girls went to her house and her son came to my house.  It was a win-win situation for all of us.  The girls had a ball together without the boys messing with them and Bryce and Joey had a great time not being interrupted by the girls.

When Joey first arrived, the boys decided to play Star Wars Wii since Joey had never played that game.  And that's when it started.....DUDE!  I swear, every third word out of Bryce's mouth was "dude."  Joey said it a lot too but not as much as Bryce and it's pretty clear that this is where Bryce got it from since he and Joey have been hanging out a lot more recently.

It really struck me as funny.  I was standing in the kitchen doing some cooking and it was all I heard.  I smiled every time he said it.  Joey was there for over 3 hours and I heard it continuously as they played Wii, Monster Trucks and then super hero action figures.

I guess that's out the 7-9 year old male set talk now.  But what's funnier to me is that as soon as Joey left, Bryce reverted back to non-dude language.  I don't think I've heard him say it since.  It just sounds so different from usual Bryce-speak.  I'm guessing it makes him feel more grown up or more "male" and like "one of the guys."  I know we all have different ways of speaking depending on our audience but it's just funny to hear it at such a young age.

My baby boy is growing up!
