Birthday Surprise

Piper's birthday is fast approaching and I don't know what to get her.  She's got plenty of clothes for the remainder of the summer although a cotton knit outfit or two, preferably with a flouncy skort wouldn't hurt (her favorite).  She has all the toys she needs too.  On Saturday evening we were laying in her bed together after reading and I asked her what she wanted for her birthday.  Her response:

"I don't want to tell you because I want it to be a surprise."

Okay, yeah.  And of course she says it with a smirk on her face.  Little turkey.  She said the same thing to my mother when she asked too.  I truly believe though she doesn't know what she wants.  When we were at Target yesterday, we strolled through the toy aisles and she didn't ask to stop once to look at anything.  I don't think there's anything she really has her eye on.  She has plenty of Disney Princess & Snow White stuff. She has lots of Strawberry Shortcake stuff too.  She did see a Dora doll and yelled out "Dora!" but I told her she doesn't even watch Dora anymore and I doubt she'd play with it.

So what do you get a persnickety 4 year old who pretty much has everything and whose only request is a "surprise?"

Gretchen wants dinner out at Bonzai where they "cook at the table" and for her 4th birthday we took her to Sesame Place...we introduced her to the "presents we can't wrap" at age 4 and she LOVED it. She asked for a "present you can't wrap" again this year.

Ha ha ha ha! Big NO on the baby sister AND a pet. Of all the possible pets (fish excluded b/c no kid truly likes a fish), a dog would be the only thing I'd consider and we are NOT getting a dog. I like dogs but not all the responsibility, cost, and dirt that comes with it.

No ideas on "gifts without wrapping" either.
