Fever Hack

I swear the universe is working against me to ever get a good night's rest.  If it's not one thing, it's another.  Last week it was thunderstorms, bad dreams, and unsettled sleepers that were keeping me up (all kid related).  I had a night of insomnia randomly over the weekend and this week I've been thwarted because Piper has a nasty virus that includes a hacking cough that kept me up on Monday night and then last night it included a fever waking.  And of course at 3 years old when you wake up with a fever you are in a TERRIBLE mood and refuse to take any medicine.  Oh the joy.  So am completely awake at 2:30am trying to get her to take something and then when I finally go back to bed it starts pouring raining and I cannot go back to sleep.

I feel like I'm in a perpetual state of sleep deprivation not unlike that of a new parent although I do realize newborn sleep deprivation is waaaaaaay worse.  But I think it's the fact that my kids are NOT babies anymore that makes this harder.  So much for getting back to my early morning workouts.  And so much for improving my mood.  I'm feeling very growly today.

Oh and an update on the trampoline thing - thanks for your perspective.  We've told Caroline that she is only allowed to be on K's trampoline if one of her parents is watching and that she is not to try any "new" tricks, particularly flips!!!  Given that K's dad is an ER doctor, I'm still a little surprised that they got one.  My mom, who is a nurse and did a long stint as a school nurse told me once that she had a teenage girl come in one day with a broken nose because of being on a trampoline and colliding with another kid.  The girl was scared to death to tell her dad because he was a doctor and had forbid her to get on.  Case and point why I have no interest in them for personal use.
