Say No to Half Shirts

We spent Sunday at my IL's and had quite a treat.  My FIL has been working on converting old videos and slides to DVD.  Yesterday's blast from the past was from April 1984 - Jason and Kelly's 8th and 6th birthdays.  At first it was just cool seeing everyone from 28 years ago.  How young everyone looked, seeing people who have died, and how cute (and little) the kids were.  But the best part?  Jason and Kelly danced!  My husband DANCED.  And not only did he dance, oh no, he danced wearing a HALF SHIRT.  OMG.  I guess half shirts must have been all the rage for boys in 1984 because he said he had a couple of them.  In this video, someone had just given him a new outfit for his birthday because the shorts and shirt both had the tags hanging off of them.

And what were they dancing too?  Michael Jackson's Thriller album, of course.  I'm telling you, Jason had some moves.  I didn't know he had it in him.  We all laughed hysterically.  I particularly liked his air guitar.

But I think the thing that struck me the most was that in that video Jason was 8, Kelly was 6, and Jeremy was 3 - the exact same ages as my kids.  Jason and Kelly were still young enough not to be self conscious in front of family and just danced and rolled around with the enjoyment only kids can have.  Apparently that day, Jeremy wasn't feeling so well and sat most of the video on my MIL's lap.  His little face was so round and he had such sweet, chubby cheeks - just like Piper.  At one point you saw him sitting on Sandy's lap and she just takes his face and kisses it, just like I do with Piper.  It makes you realize how quickly time goes and that in a blink of an eye my kids will be 35, 33, and 31.  It also reminds me that I need to take more videos, especially ones of them dancing.  I can only imagine how much more I will enjoy them in 25 years.  Although I can guarantee one thing - Bryce won't be wearing any half shirts.
