Review: Puppy Street

Puppy Street, located in Baltimore, MD, opened for business earlier this summer under the owndership and management of Caroline.  Located in the basement of Bertie and Pop's home, the location has a charming, homey feel and is perfect for small gatherings.

Upon walking into Puppy Street, you are welcomed by  Caroline herself who always has a smile on her face and is ready to seat you immediately.  (Puppy Street never seems to be very busy - which suits this reviewer just fine!)

When I've visited Puppy Street on several occasions over the summer, we were always seated behind the lounge, but on this particular visit we were seated in the new corner dining area.  It suited our party just perfectly and we were immediately served a round of drinks.  Caroline does double duty as a server too and we were sipping our drinks in no time.

Since we were just stopping by for a quick visit, we opted for a big bowl of salted almonds to share with the table.  They were delicious and even though they made us thirsty, she kept bringing us rounds of drinks to keep our palettes moistened.

While we were there, a guy sitting at our table, Bryce, told us that he used to work there and had just decided he was going to start working there again.

Before our eyes, Bryce transformed himself from customer to employee by helping Caroline clean up the place.

He said that Caroline was great to work for and he was happy to be back on the job.

In addition to a small restaurant, Puppy Street also features a small bar and lounge area perfect for catching the Ravens on a Sunday afternoon.

While the menu selection was limited, the welcome and service at Puppy Street makes it worth a visit.  Just make sure you call ahead for a reservation to make sure Caroline is around - she makes the visit even more special.
