Poor Piper!  She's had that fever all week with the cough and when she woke up from her nap yesterday, she woke up screaming because her ear hurt so badly.  We finally got some more ibuprofen into her, I ate a quick dinner, and we zoomed down the road to Minute Clinic.  Thank goodness for Minute Clinic!!!!  We were the only ones there and the Nurse Practitioner took her right in.  By this point the meds had kicked in so Piper was feeling like herself again.  In fact, it was clear that perhaps Piper had been a little starved for social interaction this week because she started talking to the nurse and did not stop!  She told her how much she liked purple, Snow White, all about her brother and sister, and then some.  The nurse got a big kick out of her and was just so friendly!  Piper was the perfect patient and let the nurse look at her ears, eyes, nose and throat.  Definite ear infection.  So we got the Rx for the pink goo (Piper's first round of antibiotics) and went on our merry way.

Piper took her first dose without problem but commented that she didn't like it.  Thankfully it only has to be taken twice a day rather than 3 or 4 times.  She woke up a few times last night  but I expected that since the antibiotics will take a few days to kick in.  But when the time came around this morning to take more, she threw a fit.  "NO!  NO WAY!  I don't like it!  NO!  NO WAY! NO WAY!"  (This is her new "thing" to say.)

I left it on the counter knowing sometimes she likes to do it in her own time, but she didn't.  I even tried to force the issue a little when my MIL arrived but Piper just spit it out.  So my MIL graciously agreed to get her to take it.  I guess they agreed upon a little reward so my MIL bought a bag of candy corn which we'll use for each dose.  Hopefully that will help get it into her the next few days so that she can start to get better.  Not a fan of too much candy but when the pink goo is involved, you kind of have to do what you have to do.

Poor Piper! See if she'll eat yogurt this week too...that antibiotic destroyed Gretchen's stomach....she complained for two weeks afterwards about how her tummy hurt....need to up those probiotics. Feel better Piper!
