Challenged and Happy

When I walked in the door from work last night, it smelled wonderful. Jason was almost done making dinner and I remarked how good it smelled.

He said, "It's Caroline's reward diner!. Corn and potato chowder!"

Now Jason HATES that recipe, but Caroline loves it, so clearly he was doing it for a good reason. Caroline brought home her first interim and it was stellar. What struck me first upon looking at it is that it's the SAME EXACT form that I received when I was a kid. Not in elementary school, but in middle school though. It was like a time warp.

Every single item had a check by it which was for exceeds expectations. The only "S" (for satisfactory performance) was for self-discipline which I suspect is from the random talking incidents that she's had - which are much fewer and further between than last year - she's definitely learning! I was just so proud. Granted it wasn't a complete surprise because she's been bringing home outstanding math and reading tests the past few weeks, but nice to see it on paper.

But aside from Caroline doing so well, it's very obvious to me that Caroline is being challenged. Her teacher, Ms. A, is another outstanding teacher and is really having the kids step up. Caroline loves going to school every day and hasn't given us any of the troubles she's given us in the past. Clearly, she's maturing. I look at her and just see how grown up she's becoming.

It's hard to believe we're already halfway through the first quarter already too. It will be Christmas before we know it!
