Odds and Ends

1.  Thanks to Katie for this recipe:  Chicken Stir Fry Wraps

I really, really liked it!  I added some toasted sesame seeds to the top of each of mine too.  Jason liked it although with his cold he said he couldn't get the full taste although said it might have been a tad gingery for him.  I served it with brown rice and just loved them.  The kids, well, that didn't go over well at all.  But I'm not surprised.  Caroline said the chicken was okay but didn't like the veggies.  Bryce munched the peppers and hated the chicken (he hates chicken) and Piper ate NONE (as usual).  She also went to bed hungry per our family rules.

2.  Lauren asked me which exercise DVDs I use and since that's mostly what I do for my early morning work outs, I've got a bunch!  I've got some older Turbo Jams which are actually pretty good.  My friend sent me some bootlegged copies about 3 1/2 years ago and a few of them have gone bad.   I've also got 3 Jillian Michaels that I keep in strong rotation:  30 Day Shred, No More Trouble Zones, and Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism (my favorite).  Then, I also have had a 2 DVD set of The Firm - one is a workout that uses one of those tube things and the other is a cardio workout.  Both are a few years old and came from Target so I can't find which ones they are online.  But liking those and seeing The Firm was on sale last week, I got 3 more: Maximum Calorie Burn, Calorie Explosion, and Total Body Makeover.  (I've only tried one of the workouts on one of the DVDs so far.)  I also got for Christmas Denise Austin's Total Body Blast which is okay.  It's two 20 minute workouts - cardio and interval weights and really are only a good workout if you put the 2 together.  It was my first Denise Austin and she's a little weird.  I mean like, I think she's on crack weird.  She has a strange raspy voice, crazy looking eyes, and says weird things the whole video.  I don't think I'd buy another one of her workouts!

I'll probably get back into using the treadmill some when it gets fixed too.  (It broke right before Christmas.)  I like to use it with ankle weights and walk at a high incline in addition to doing walk/run intervals.

3.  Piper's potty training....woops, gonna have to wait, she's gotta go now!

Have you tried Jackie Warner videos? I like her, too. I tried some on demand & like. I was afraid of her until I watched Thintervention, now I like her. Glad you like the chicken wraps! My kids didn't eat them either, but L & I liked them.

K - she scares me too. I think it's her face. I've never seen that show - maybe my next DVD purchase will be her's but with 3 new ones (that have multiple workouts) I should be good for a bit.

I know you have the Wi, have you tried EA Sports active 2? We just got it and LOVE IT! (way better than Wii Fit, if you ask me!)

WiiFit has always been just games to me - never could get into using it as an actual workout. I got EA Sports Active last year (first version) and liked it at first but got bored with it VERY quickly. Part of the problem with it is that if you want to get a good workout in, it takes a LONG time because of all the pauses between exercises and that STUPID trainer saying the same lame things over and over. There also wasn't enough cardio in it. I have no idea if they've added more in the new version but I need an intense 30-35 minute workout that gets going right away and the EA Sports Active just doesn't fit the bill for me. Doing even one of their harder workouts got easy for me as I got into better shape. I'm a huge fan of the Jillan Michaels because of how intense they are - they get you into shape really fast.

Thank you, Erika! I ordered the two Jillian Michaels DVDs that looked like 40 min circuits- which is exactly what I was looking for! I have Jackie Warner's Power Circuit Training DVD, and I love it. I do that one 3x a week, and then finish it off with 20 min of intervals on my spin bike. I do a Billy Blanks DVD once a week (it's good but he talks to much) and then the other two days I get paid to work out (teaching spin class) so I'm getting variety. And I REALLY enjoy my rest day and make sure to be extra lazy that day. I just need to change up my circuit training so my muscles don't stop changing. I wish it was warmer so i could be active outside, but that isn't too far off I hope...
Oh- and i am definitely making those lettuce wraps!
Can't wait for VOLT night!

I made the stir fry wraps last night. I cut some carrots into thin strips and added those too.
I didn't have any Boston Lettuce in my house, so I used Romaine leaves, which seemed to work great.

This was SO GOOD!!! Thanks again for sharing!
