Gnomeo & Juliet

On Saturday afternoon, I took the big kids to see Gnomeo & Juliet.  It's so rarely that they ask to see a movie that when they got all excited about this one, I knew we'd just have to go!  I initially wanted to take all 3 of them but upon finding out that the 2D version wasn't playing anywhere near us, I realized Piper would have to sit this one out as the 3D glasses are too big for her and just cause problems.  (My MIL found this out at Toy Story 3 this summer.)  I was also miffed because a 3D showing is a few bucks more a person vs. a matinee 2D showing. And to be honest, this movie does NOT need to be seen in 3D, but I digress...

Anyway, so we waited for Piper to get to naptime and then left.  We went to a smaller theater closer to the house and even for the 1pm show, it was pretty much empty.  The show started on time with only TWO trailers and no commercials - I couldn't believe it.  Both kids had no problems keeping their glasses on and totally loved the movie.  I liked the music, the way they threw in Shakespeare references from the real play, and the characters.  Definitely a cute movie but I would recommend either seeing in in 2D or waiting for the DVD as there is no reason you need to see it in 3D.

The kids went home in good moods and very excited about the outing.  I loved going to the movies as a kid and I'm pretty sure they feel the same way.
