Oh the time change....

I mostly like the time changes both in the spring and fall.  I like the little adjustment to your day and the way it changes the light.  I don't mind the dark evenings as others do and I like having a brighter morning wake up time.  I know a lot of people hate the fall time change but really, I like it as it I think it helps put me in the spirit for fall and the coming holidays.

However, it's a little harder when it comes to the kids.  This time change is "easier" them as it makes it so that they are quite easy to wake up in the morning since their body is telling them it's later than it is.  But it's made my mornings a little crazier than usual this week since they are all 3 up earlier.   Bryce, who I usually get out of bed at 6:15, deposit in my bed to watch TV, and then take a shower is now up before 6am and is down and exploring the house.  This morning he came down to the basement in the middle of my workout and proceeded to ask me 20 questions about the workout DVD I was doing and then messed around with my weights and made predictions about what Piper could lift.  Bryce is just Mr. Talky Talk and the second he gets up, it begins.  And once I was done, we went upstairs where the talking continued even though I kept telling him to quiet down and before I knew it I heard the familiar, "MAAAAAAAAMAAAAAAAA!" coming from Piper's room.  Damn, 6:15 and she was already up.  I left her in there while I showered since an unwatched 2 year old usually results in wall drawings and went to get her out at 6:30.  At this point, Caroline was up too and she's never up until after 7am.  Of course this means that while I'm down getting my usual breakfast for Bryce and me, the other 2 decide they want to eat the second I sit down to eat mine.  Grrrrrrr.  (Not that I mind feeding my kids, it's just they never seem to want to eat when I give the the option - they always wait till I sit down - I feel like that mother in A Christmas Story.)

I like having a few minutes to think in the morning prior to the kids getting up - being to work out in peace (hence WHY I get up at 5:30!!!).  I also liked having breakfast with just Bryce since Piper would usually wake up as I went back upstairs to get Bryce dressed and to dry my hair.  So none of this is in the cards until their bodies adjust to the change.  I want my quieter mornings back!

Oh and because Bryce is so "off" right now, he even took a nap yesterday.  What???  He was sitting and doing his homework and practically fell asleep at the table.  Of course that made him stay up later last night and so I'm sure he'll be crumbling tonight by bedtime.  Hopefully the adjustment is coming soon...

Gretchen is still adjusting...its a challenge. She is ready for dinner and bed at 4! Uh, not happening! She'd be up at 4AM. I hope she adjusts soon....she's cranky at this "later" bedtime!
