We got the kids The Princess and the Frog on DVD for Easter since they liked it so much when I took them to see it in the movies so you can imagine my surprise upon seeing the teaser trailer for Tangled - Disney's take on Rapunzel coming out this fall!  My brother and I always said when we were kids that Disney should do Rapunzel.  Apparently they changed the name from Rapunzel to Tangled for a broader appeal and the story won't be exactly the same because, well, there's not a whole lot to the original story much like there's not to many of the original stories that Disney has adapted.  I just wonder if they'll have a killed off parent like they do in all the other Disney movies.  That bugs the crap out of me.  At least in P&F they don't kill the father off until Tiana is an adult.

We saw a poster for this at Hollywood Studios, except it was still called Rapunzel then. To be honest, I am disappointed with Disney for changing the title. I think they should stick to what works. Apparently, Princess & Frog didn't do too well, so they are trying a new formula-- changing the name, more villains, hoping to capture more brothers & a broader audience. I hope it is good, but I am not pleased. We love Rapunzel!

ITA - the teaser trailer on Princess/Frog didn't tell you the name. So I googled it and was a bit disheartened to see it wasn't Rapunzel although I had no idea what a recent change that was. Boo. I understand they need to change the story to make more of it (which is fine) but keep the name please.
