My Birthday Snow Day

Well, the kids finally made it out into the snow today for a little longer than yesterday. No blowing snow makes a big difference. They were ready to go back out after breakfast but since we had plans to meet up with my family for lunch, I wanted them to hold off. It was a nice lunch with the fam (thanks mom and dad!) and weird to be out at a shopping hot spot so close to Christmas and for it to be DEAD! I guess we were somewhat rogue in going out today even though the roads weren't that bad.

When we got home, the kids were dying to go out so I let Caroline and Bryce go out into the backyard while Piper finished up her nap. I dug a path from the sliding door to the deck gate while they played and then Piper woke up and wanted to join them. I did have one of the best laughs though right before when Bryce had to pee and I helped him to just pee off the deck and "make yellow snow." It just didn't seem worth it to drag him inside and get snow everywhere and he didn't mind. A great mother/son bonding moment if I've ever had one. HA HA HA!

Then, Piper came out and rolled around in the snow and watched her older siblings do all kinds of running and sliding. They were content to stay on the snow covered deck at this point and I was happy because I didn't have to chase Piper all over the place. She mostly just batted at the snow and ate it.

Then we came in and they proceeded to eat snow off the floor that had come in on their boots. So I filled up a cup of snow for each of them and they sat at the table as happy as could be eating their snow with a spoon.

I'm kind of beat. It's been a busy weekend. I've done a bunch of baking tonight and the kids were running me ragged. Caroline has off tomorrow thanks to the snow and I'm waiting to see if there will be any delay or not. I really don't mind going in so I whatever happens, happens.

Here are a few photos from the day:
