Cold = Bad Mood

I just wanna ask, do anyone else's kids get really mad about being sick? When Caroline gets a cold, she has ALWAYS gotten totally peeved off by it. When she was a lot younger, it always seemed her colds would make themselves known overnight and she'd wake up in the middle of the night and start fussing and crying because she would be mad that her nose was stuffy.

This morning she came into the bathroom as I was getting ready for work and I noticed her nose sounded stuffy and I casually commented that she must have caught Bryce's cold. Well, you would have thought that I had suggested that she was dying from the plague because she got this nasty look on her face and plopped herself down on the floor and made a "hmpf" sound. And then, because of this new mood, she refused to come over to me and get the button on the back of her dress buttoned or to have her ear piercings cleaned. I told her to snap out of it and went about my way which only agitated her more.

I know no one likes getting sick, but c'mon, kid. It's not the end of the world. And for what it's worth, it seems Piper has it too and is sneezing big globs of green snot out so at least you're not doing that. But then, the littlest thing has always seemed to set Caroline off. I told her last night in the tub that it makes no sense to me that my oldest child is the one that causes the most problems at bedtime and always has. I always thought when Bryce was a baby that when he got older, he'd be difficult too, but as he's aged, he's stayed the same. Not that he doesn't have his moments (he certainly does!), but he's just not quite as temperamental as Caroline. Piper is still fairly easy, but I think that may be coming to an end as we are seeing more and more shades of temper tantrums coming out in her. Maybe it's girls? I don't know, but if Piper is half as temperamental as Caroline, we're really going to be in for it.

Nope. It's not just girls. Yet another post of yours that makes me realize Ben and Caroline are truly cut from the same mold.

I can't tell you how many times *I* have been screamed at because *his* nose is stuffy... and the bedtime battles? They come and go with him, but he's ALWAYS been higher maintenance with bedtime then Simon. I shake my head sometimes that my five-year-old is often more work than my two-year-old... (but at the same time, a lot of the same aspects of his personality that make him so challenging, also make him a really cool, interesting kid to be a mom to) :)

Yep, been yelled at for that too. Do you ever get yelled at for medicine not working fast enough for other things? Argh!

But you are right, they are pretty interesting kids. From the costumes to the perspective from which they see the world, it really does make you smile.

Emily hates blowing her nose. She screams in anger when her nose is runny. She hates it and gets very angry at her nose and cold. I tell her it's not a big deal to blow her nose, but she gets so frustrated and angry.

We're going to two birthday parties today. One is at a bouncy house and the other at Playwise. I am loading up on Purell, but I'd bet good money that one of my kids will end up with a cold next week and I will be dealing with this issue head on.
