Almost There

Well, we awoke this morning to all 3 kids having normal temps! Whew!! Piper is finishing up her antibiotics, Caroline is on her 2nd day of them, and Bryce is totally fine!!

I took Caroline to Minute Clinic yesterday after she continued the fever and complaining of a sore throat. Upon looking in her throat we saw nasty white patches and that's a one way ticket to visit a doctor! But, magically, the strep test came back negative, but somehow she had a pretty infected ear, so the nurse practitioner prescribed her an antiobiotic. (She gave me a choice of "wait and see" but based on the fact that Caroline had had a high fever for 3 days and that she's never had an ear infection before and has only been on antibiotics twice in her life, I went ahead with it.) She was still pretty feverish last night and not feeling good but this morning she was much better but I still thought she needed another day at home.

My MIL was coming anyway to stay with Piper, so I kept Caroline home. But Bryce, who has been back to himself for 2 days was suffering from some major cabin fever so I decided he WAS going to school by himself - for the first time! I was worried he wouldn't go, but I told Caroline she was NOT to brag about the fact that she was staying home and he was not and then this morning I didn't even talk about it. I just got him ready, he ate a good breakfast (complete with Cheerios and a cinnamon roll), and he went without much complaining at all. I told him that if he did it, he could have some special alone time with mommy or daddy tonight and that definitely motivated him. I was so proud of him at school and he did great! I knew I just had to get him there and he'd see his friends and be okay. He's just such a huggable, sweet kid and I could tell he didn't want me to leave, but he managed to stay positive.

So I'm hoping that this will be it for us for the winter. Really hoping. Yes, allergy season is upon us, but I'll take that ANY day over this. Of course, I had a headache and irritated throat this morning. It figures. But usually when I pick things up from the kids, it is never as bad. Fingers crossed!
