The Gift That Keeps on Giving

Last night, I rallied and baked a bunch of cranberry bread to give as gifts. The day hadn't been a total waste and I was all set to get out and do a big chunk of my shopping this morning. What's that they say about well laid plans???

Well, first of all Piper woke up at 3am and kept waking up like every 30 minutes. Finally somewhere around 5am, I just brought her into bed with us and she stayed asleep. And in true Murphy's Law fashion, that meant that the big kids slept until 8am!! A miracle as far as my kids are concerned. Figures that Piper, who usually only wakes up once a night now would be up multiple times when the other kids decided to sleep late. And as soon as I got up, I knew something wasn't right. My stomach was churning and gurgling and when I went downstairs I started feeling like death. My head started pounding, I was achy, I felt feverish even though I wasn't, and my lower GI was a wreck.

I went back to bed before 9:30 and didn't get up until 3:30. Mostly I just layed there miserable but at 1:30, I brought Piper in with me to help Jason out and we slept for 2 hours. When I woke up, I felt temporarily much better and I ate some crackers hoping for some energy. It never came. So, I managed to help Jay with the kids until bedtime and now I need some serious rest again. I feel completely depleted. Completely.....

And now I'm wondering how long before the other kids get it. All the kids at Piper's daycare had it so it's probably just a matter of time. Caroline said her stomach hurt tonight but then said it was okay. I'm just readying myself for the worst. As if I wasn't already enthused by this holiday season.....

Jason just came back down and said Caroline is now saying she feels sick. Should be a fun night.
