A Quiet Evening

I had hoped at this time, I would be sitting at this restaurant with Jason enjoying the wine and food and a night out alone together. But, life happens and you change plans. My IL's asked to have the big kids overnight tonight earlier in the week and we agreed since it had been so long since they'd been up there. So we decided to see if my mom could watch Piper for a few hours so we could go out to dinner. It has been over 2 months since we've had a real date - and going to the grocery store by ourselves really doesn't count, does it? Anyway, the kids got shipped off around 3pm and I sat down to feed Piper again having already showered and figured I could relax a few hours before our 8pm reservations. We hadn't firmed up plans on where my mom was going to have Piper (my house or hers) and just as I was about to call her, she called me. Poor mom! She mentioned on her Facebook page last night (I know, how cool that my mom is on Facebook?) she was achy and it turned into a full fledged stomach flu type virus. She was hoping to tough it out and feel better because she was looking forward to Piper time, but when she felt so woozy in the shower, she knew she wasn't going to make it and didn't want to expose the baby.

I tried calling my sister to see if she was available but she had plans, so we decided just to stay home. We thought about going out to a more casual place with Piper, but by that time she would have been cranky and wanting to eat again and with usual Saturday night dinner crowds, it wouldn't have been much fun. So Jason tried rallying my spirits and we ordered from a local takeout place we like while Piper took her first spin in the exersaucer. (She LOVED it - she's been wanting to stand all.the.time. lately, so this is GREAT! Why didn't I think of this before?)

Then after dinner, I tackled something that has been nagging me for MONTHS! The pantry. It hadn't been cleaned out since the famous powdered sugar incident from a few years ago and it was desperately needing a cleaning and reorganization. It only took a little over an hour and now it is beautiful again. I have room for everything and even spots for our lunchbags/boxes so they don't have to sit on the top of the fridge and add to the cluttered look. Add that to the fact that I got all 3 bathrooms cleaned last night (and each of the big kids helped me with the powder room and their bathroom), I'm feeling pretty good. And Jason has tackled all the laundry and vacuuming, so we're in a pretty good place.

Now I just hope Piper will sleep tonight. I've been calling her Roller Baby these days because all she wants to do is roll over onto her belly, but of course, she hasn't been able to get back over yet. And, even though I consider myself to be one of the premiere swaddlers in the world, Piper can escape. No matter what I do - short of putting a tight band around her. So she frees herself, rolls over, and then cries. Sweet. I seriously think she's trying to start motoring to catch up with the big kids. She watched them intently and even cried the other night when I was holding her and walked out of the room they were dancing around in. As soon as I went back in and she could see them, she perked back up. I'm really in for it when all three of them are running amuck.

Get well soon, mom!!

okay lady just because you stayed home with Jason didn't mean you had to totally jump ship and clean the pantry instead. Ha ha!!! I am sure it feels good to have it done.

Ok so did you read my blog before you mentioned the food store date not counting? HAHAHA, but look I'll take what I can get these days :)

Hope you had a good night w/o the sleeping issues. And I hope you in-laws don't have any issues with B-man!
