Well, I can hear, but it feels/sounds like I have cotton stuck in my ears. UGH! I'm still a bit congested in my chest and coughing here and there, but my main complaint is the head cold portion since I sound all nasally and I can't hear. Every now and then I get a glimmer of hope and an ear "pops" and I can hear normally, but then it goes back to congested again. I'd like to take some decongestant like Sudafed or something but I dare not for 2 reasons. For one, Sudafed can temporarily kill your breastmilk supply and two, it causes my heart to race. So, I'd rather just deal with the congestion, honestly. It's better than it was, so I'm on the mend.

I felt pretty awful yesterday and when my mom called, she was happy to come and get the big kids and take them for the afternoon. During that time, I napped and took a bath, both of which helped me immensely. I know that my lack of quality sleep in the past weeks has not helped me to recover any faster. And with the kids getting up at 6am both days this weekend, I was lacking in the sleep department even more. Murphy's Law though, both kids were still asleep at 6:30am this morning. WTH? Figures that they don't sleep in during the weekend but do during the week. And you know, for me, sleeping in until 7am wouldn't be so bad. 7am, people. Really, am I asking too much?

So I'm very thankful for the break my mom gave me yesterday. Especially considering that she is recovering from pneumonia. (Remember how she was so sick last week?) But 48 hours on antibiotics had made her a new woman and while she is still coughing, she feels like she has a new lease on life. Whew!

But, I'm telling you, this cold is no joke. I've had it for over 2 weeks and the kids have had it longer. Bryce started hacking again this morning at breakfast and I was thinking, "Wait, you've already been through this, gotten a little better, and now it's back???" And Caroline still has some "sniffles" as she calls them and some congestion in her chest that is improving. I'd be worried if they were acting any differently, but they are still their normal selves, so I'm not worried. It's just a doozy of a virus. Jason seems the best of all of us since he didn't acquire the head part of the cold and his cough has mostly worn off although he'll have the occassional coughing spell. And Miss Piper started coughing last night after we put her to bed, so I pulled out the co-sleeper and propped it up on one end with the risers and she slept on an incline. Thankfully, as soon as I did that, the coughing stopped. I don't know if it was a coincidence or it really helped. But either way, she slept better than I would have expected. I'm just hoping she doesn't get awfully congested because that is way worse in a baby than it is in a bigger kid.

Bryce told me at breakfast today that his cold was going to go away for Thanksgiving and then come back at Christmas. I hope not. I want this nasty virus to go away soon and STAY AWAY. We've certainly had our share.
