Homework Princess

When I arrived home yesterday afternoon, I was greeted by a smiling little girl who looked very excited. As soon as I got out of the car she said,

Since the kids have a 3 day weekend, Caroline's teacher gave them "homework" to do. I use the term homework very loosely since it was a coloring sheet and some tracing and letter practice. It's the first time she's had it and Jason said they barely got in the door and she was ready to tackle it. Jason asked her if she wanted to wait for me and she said she just couldn't. (I get home 30 minutes after them!) So, he sat down with her and helped/coached her through it and tried to fend off a very interested Bryce.

It was so cute to see her little folder with take home items on one side and homework on the other. She's obviously not graded or anything and the teacher is doing it just to start the practice of things to come and getting parents/kids to focus on something together (something we already do with her). It was so cute to see her excitment about it since she watched our old DCP's kids do homework when they came home from school for years and she has always mimicked them.

When she told me she did it right away, I told her that was a sign of a VERY successful student. I remember never wanting to do my homework right away but when I did I was always so happy I had. A procrastinator, I usually am not. I hope this is a sign of things to come.

Very cute. Hopefully, that is a trend that she wants to continue. I will say my children always did their homework right after school and they still tend to do it after school to this day :) A good habit to keep.

I never could do mine right after school since I had gymnastics practice but definitely a good habit to get into. Glad she enjoyed doing it too:>
