First Smiles?

On Saturday at my grandmother's, Jason and I think we saw Piper's first smiles - although it seems Jason actually saw the first one. According to this site, first smiles occur from 4 to 6 weeks and I know we saw Bryce's just before he was 1 month old (gotta check Caroline's baby calender to find out when her's was). When Jason told me she smiled at him, I wasn't 100% sure since it seems so early and you just don't know if it was involuntary or not. But then about 10 minutes later, she was in my lap and looked at me right in the eyes and smiled this HUGE smile and her eyes were even smiling. (My cousin and sister saw this one too!) Of course, upon my reaction to it, Jason says, "See, I TOLD you she was smiling." (So score another first for daddy - he also was the one who found her umbilical cord had fallen off too.)

It was a beauty of a smile too - you forget how much those first smiles mean! And then just before I started typing this, I was holding her and she gave me two little ones, but they were clearly meant for me. Now to get her to do them more consistently for the camera. I can't wait until she smiles for Caroline and Bryce. They already do a lot of funny dances for her hoping for some reaction from her, so I know that a real smile will be met with a lot of excitment from them.

Thank you for posting this today. I am smiling because of Piper's smile!
