What's a blogging mother to do?

I talked to the OB unit at my hospital the other day and found out that they do not have internet access in the L&D or Post-Partum rooms. Man. And this is a pretty good obstetrical hospital that seems to have pretty new features/equipment/facilities. WTH? Not that I was planning on doing any work from my hospital bed, but I thought I could at least blog and stay in contact with the world.

At least I can mobile blog and send a picture or two before I get home and can truly update. While I trust Jason to be able to update, I don't know if I trust his picture selection since he doesn't seem to think I look that bad in photos where I look horrid. (Not that anyone is looking for a photo of ME!) I think there was a picture of Caroline being weighed right after birth where you can see me still on the delivery table in the background that he sent out in an email to people. You can't see anything - well maybe a few bloody items - but still.....

I'm not about to mess with dialup either, which I have through work, but I think it might be extra to even activate the room telephone.

I love it! You are a true blogger. HA HA! Sad thing is that we will all be anxiously awaiting for the blog :>

When I was at St. Joe's Jay got a wireless card that allowed us to get Internet in our room without having to do anything with the hospital (it found the satalite all on it's own - I even used it while on the road to VA in April cause I'm an Internet addict!). Now he got it through work so I'm not sure if your Jay can't get something like that for you but it's worth a shot.

My hospital didn't have it on the L&D floor either, so I just used my cell phone and mobile blogged my labor. It's fun to look back at the times I posted and see what was happening.

I know you said you aren't going to fool w/ dialup... but that's what I had to do at St. Joes... it wasn't so bad. I activated a free trial AOL account and just plugged right into the hospital room phone line. Worked fine for blogging purposes... :)

I bring this up only because I WANT UPDATES!!!! ;)

I feel your pain, too. Who wants to "enjoy" the last few hours of being a mom of "only" two and the little bit of rest and quiet time without the web????? I'm going to look into that wireless card- if it's reasonable, I'll spring for it. Phooey on these old school hospitals!
