So Big & Handsome

Oh Mr. Bryce, you are changing so much. One minute you're cuddling on my lap with me like a baby and the next you're doing and saying such grown up things! As you can see from the picture to the left, he's always making faces and cracking us up with his expressions. You tell him to smile for the camera and this is what he almost always does. And blessed by today's technology, he loves that he gets to see his picture right after he poses for it. How's that for instant gratification?

Plus, he talks and asks about "baby tister" all the time. When I get home from work, he insists on pulling up my shirt to kiss my belly and tell me how much he loves her. I just wonder how interested he's going to be in her when she gets here and he sees how much time she'll need in mommy's arms - time that Bryce will clearly miss.

Of course, all of this new language and development has had a down side as well - Bryce has been showing us his aggressive side more and more as he gets into his "twos." I think it's a combination of a lot of things - his age, being a boy, and being the younger sibling but it's definitely been getting worse lately. In fact, Cathy called me this morning to tell me that Bryce had bitten Caroline so hard that he drew blood and she was wearing a sweater AND a t-shirt. He even left some clear teeth marks behind. Little vampire... He's also quite the hitter too. Sigh. We read his no biting and no hitting books and talk about it along with getting instant time outs for that type of behavior, but it just seems that until he's able to control that impulse, it's behavior we'll continue to see. And it's generally always directed at Caroline which makes sense since she is usually the one to antagonize him. (And sometimes I almost think she deserves it!) But, we don't tolerate that type of behavior so I guess it's just a matter of time. I plan on talking to Caroline tonight about how she learned to curb her behavior around one of Nana's cats because of a possible scratch, so she's got to learn the types of things that trigger Bryce - snatching toys, telling him what (not) to do, etc. So if she does her part, we'll do ours.... I just hope he doesn't bite his baby sister.

Very cute for both posts (of C & B!)

P.S. I meant to ask you about this after a previous post...have you done that eye calculator to see what % you have for brown-eyed baby?

OMG...could Bryce be any cuter? Of course I see the devil in those eyes too. And Caroline is getting so grown up. She's more thoughtful in her mannerisms and gentle along with her never ending curiousity.
They are such wonderful little kids...even with all of their developmental struggles. They have wonderful parenting. Bravo!
