Hoping the Predictions are Right

According to the weather service, after midnight tonight we are supposed to get a decent amount of wintry precipitation in the form of sleet, ice, freezing rain and maybe some snow. I hope that is what happens and it starts on time. Am I just looking for a day off? Well, I'll take any free days off that I can get, but that's really not why I'm hoping it will start on time. All winter, we've had these nasty wintry storms start in the middle of the day which means I'm at work and have to drive home in it.

I'm completely comfortable driving in a moderate amount of snow/ice - I just take my time, put on some good radio and I get home. But, it's the OTHER drivers I don't trust. I've seen some REAL morons out there lately - you know, driving like maniacs when really they should be taking their time. Don't get me wrong, I'm not an old lady type snow driver, I just know to drive a little slower, watch my following distance and allow for plenty of braking. A lot of people don't get this and then cause accidents.

So basically, I'm just not thrilled with the idea of having to drive to work tomorrow in a wintry mess if it starts right around rush hour. So far the university has done a bang up job of cancelling classes/opening late this year. We opened on time last week after that nasty ice storm and while I'm fine with a regular opening if the university is prepared, I was not pleased to find a HUGE sheet of ice on all the sidewalks and to see that they'd basically done squat to prepare for opening. I'm sure someone must have fallen it was so bad. (All the other local universities/schools were at least opening late.)

And if we were to open at 10am or so, I won't even bother coming in since I have to leave at 2pm so really, what's the point - especially when I can do a lot of my work from home now.

And why am I leaving at 2pm? The big ultrasound, of course. So please think healthy baby vibes for us! (Oh and for open legs too! But that's just icing on the cake....)
