Speaking of Technology....

I've been aware for a long time of the ability for anyone to remote desktop from any PC in the world to another but had never been able to do it to my desktop at work. Yes, the software is out there, but it wasn't supported by the university and it would have cost me to attain it. I'll never forget the time that Bracken, who was my supervisor at the time, printed some documents to our office printer from Thailand. How cool is that? However I found out later that she had some special set up to do it and it wasn't something I could do without some special installation. But I was happy when the university started using virutal workspace since it's almost as good, but not quite.

But now the university has set up supported remote desktop software and I installed it yesterday and it works! Not that I have any particular reason that I would need to work from home (or anywhere else in the world) but just the fact that I can is making me happy.

Does it make me a geek to get that excited about remote desktop? Yeah, it probably does.

You are a geek, admit it! But so am I. It was pretty crazy that I could print from across the world --- how crazy is that!

Jay has it and it's crazy! He uses PC anywhere. But it's good for him when a stupid co-worker has messed up his computer and Jay can "get in" and fix it with taking all day for the PC-challenged co-worked to find out what the desktop is!

Yay- I'd be excited too! Sounds like a fun application- are you sure Jay will "let" you mess with the computer from work though? (JK Jay :) )
