No Collections Here

After baths last night, we were all playing in Caroline's bedroom. Both kids were playing with this Clifford counting book that is magnetic and has "bones" to put on the pages and count with. Caroline seemed to get a little bored with it and was over looking through some bins on the other side of her room. I asked her what she was doing when she put one of the bins back and she said, "There aren't any collections in there."

Thinking she was precociously using another word that she didn't understand but thought sounded neat, I asked her, "Caroline, do you know what that means?"

"Yes, it's when there's two of something that is the same."

Jason and I just started giggling - she not only used the word correctly, but she DEFINED it correctly. (I guess technically it's two or more, but I'll excuse that.) I don't know about you, but I often have trouble defining words in my everyday vernacular. So I was thoroughly impressed and told her how amazing she is. She just smiled and looked very pleased with herself.
