Holiday Planning!

So, Viv told me yesterday that it's 48 days until Christmas (so 47, now). GAH! We're scaling back on Christmas this year with a lot of extended family so I don't have as much shopping to do but I still have ALL of it to do for the kids and a good amount of homemade items to START.

But gifting aside, I am also starting to think ahead to the fun stuff for the holidays - holiday outings! My favorite! Maybe I love them so much because I have such wonderful memories from my childhood. My parents usually took us to one "big" event and often a few others. I have fond memories of attending the Nutcracker ballet twice along with a few other Christmas shows. And then of course there is my parents' annual holiday brunch/party too. We usually go to Tuba Christmas down at the Inner Harbor every year since my dad plays the euphonium and then go out to eat together.

So this year, we'll probably be doing the Tuba Christmas thing but we are also planning to attend The Festival of Trees over Thanksgiving weekend. I remember going back when they first started doing it downtown, but it's now been moved out to the fairgrounds. I really enjoyed it back then but from the looks of it, it's gotten much more elaborate now and I think the kids will LOVE it. Plus, my mom is helping to decorate one of the trees, so I'm looking forward to seeing that. And as icing on the cake, Santa is at this event so as long as the line isn't too long, the kids can visit him there instead of having to go to the crazy mall.

Is anyone else starting their holiday plans? I hope we'll get to do something with the IL's too since I know how much the kids enjoy doing stuff with them. And who doesn't like doing Christmas stuff with little kids? There's nothing like Christmas magic to a small child.

Okay, so I haven't started planning or anything as of right now. I about died last night when I saw Christmas ads on TV. I haven't figured out where time has gone and we have done NONE of our shopping. Granted, this holiday season is going to be different because we are going to be on the move. It will be interesting how it all effects Christmas. We will try to make it as normal as possible for Sydney but it will be interesting.

Can you believe that The Avenue is lighting their Christmas tree tomorrow night and the White Marsh Mall Christmas parade is Saturday morning! You know that means SANTA will be at the mall starting this weekend! Is it me or does it get earlier and earlier every year? I mean I was just at the Avenue with the girl for T or Ting!
OMG!

But as for holiday planning I'm already planning get togethers with our neighbors and friends. Family gets us on Christmas Eve & Day and New Years Day ;) We are going to Festival of Trees too this year (MilkShake is playing Friday night if your kids like them). And I think Jay & I are going to get a bulk of our Christmas shopping done this weekend too (plus we have my Dad's 65th birthday, my Mom's 53rd birthday and my sister's 24th birthday all around Christmas too! EEK!)

Let the fun begin! It's the most wonderful time of the year, remember! :)

I agree, Viv! I hate that they rush Christmas so much. No one enjoys Thanksgiving anymore! I don't like Santa before Thanksgiving and I don't like Christmas music too early either. (I did as a kid though...)

And I thought it was bad that Caroline and I had December birthdays - that's crazy that 3/4 of your family are Christmas babies!

I saw that about Milkshake - I don't know who they are but thought they might be cool for the kids. I'll have to let you know when we're going. I know we'll be going w/ my parents. My mom gets discounted tickets from work. :)

I'm not sure who they are either - LOL! I got free tix from a friend of mine who does promotions. Maybe we can meet up? ~ V
