Whatever, Daddy

Last week, Jason had just brought the kids home and they were in the playroom playing quietly while he unloaded the dishwasher. A few minutes later, Jason hears Caroline yelling at Bryce to not do something (the usual Caroline yell at our house) and he looks in and Bryce is sitting no where near her. Jason told her to leave Bryce alone because he was playing nicely by himself and that there was no need to yell at him. Caroline looks right at him and says, "Whatever, Daddy." And casually starts to stroll toward the steps to go up to her room.

SCCCCCCCCCREACH! (That was the sound of Jason doing a double take at what his 3 1/2 year old daughter just said. )

Needless to say, Jason put the kiebash on that one very quickly and told her that it was NOT an appropriate response. I think she'll remember that for a while.

It's hard to believe she's already spouting these little golden phrases and using them correctly. I know for SURE that she isn't hearing them at Cathy's because Cathy is very big on respectful language. (She won't even let her children/daycare children answer her with a "What?" Of course, Jay and I are VERY guilty of that one!) I'm pretty sure it came from SpongeBob or maybe even that Suite Life of Zack and Cody that she watches with Cathy's youngest daughter sometimes on Disney. Seems like a pretty harmless term, but I will not have my daughter starting the disrespectful act with me and thinking it's no big deal.
