Shrek 3

Since I was off yesterday, my mom and I took the kids to see Shrek 3. I figured that since it had been in theaters for several weeks and we were going to an 11:20am show, that any noise we made wouldn't be too big a deal. I was correct in there were probably only 3 other groups of people there.

Caroline did great and for the first time, she was able to sit in a movie seat (w/ the provided booster) by herself w/o the seat trying to fold up on her - I guess she finally weighs enough. Bryce sat on my lap for about 2/3 of it and then started getting restless. He was funny when we first got there and they were playing the trailers and each time he'd yell out, "SHREK!!!" So you can guess he was thrilled to see his green pal by the time the movie finally started.

The last 1/3 of the film, he entertained himself by running up and down the row we were in and then climbing in and out of a seat. Every now and then he'd sit in the seat for a few minutes, munch on some homemade air popped popcorn and laugh at whatever was on the screen. And for some reason, when there was any high pitched singing in the movie (there were 2-3 episodes of it) he would sing really loud and high right along. So I got a good laugh out of that.

Of course their good behavior at the movies mean for a difficult afternoon later. It's like they are only able to be THAT good for a certain period of time and then all hell breaks loose. So I really get no reward for taking them on an outing other than an afternoon where Caroline wouldn't nap, threw tantrum after tantrum, and Bryce screamed his head off in the crib for a while before finally settling down.
