Channeling Avril

A few weeks ago Katie talked about how Emily was starting to get into some pop songs and I realized that we hardly ever exposed our kids to anything but kid tunes. Granted, there is a lot of crap music out there right now (boy do I sound old!) but I played a few songs for her. She really likes 'Sweet Escape' by Gwen Stefani but by far, her favorite is 'Girlfriend' by Avril Lavinge.

I think I only ever played it for her once and this evening on a quick trip to Ikea, she started singing the chorus. There's nothing like a 3 year old singing "Hey! Hey! You! You! I don't like your girlfriend!!" So when we came home I downloaded the PG rated version (w/o the F bomb) and I think she kind of was channeling her inner Avril. I don't know if you can see it in the video, but she was making some very angst ridden faces. I guess she gets the point of the song.

And once again, Bryce was her backup dancer - I think he was even yelling out a few "heys" by the end.

So funny! Kenzie loves to sing the "Hey Hey" parts too! Very catchy songs!

That's great. It makes driving in the car more fun for everyone when kids like pop songs.

Try country music too. Kids love the beats.

Love, love, love it! She is so expressive, it's adorable. And you know what? I think she IS the next Avril! She does a great job imitating the angst!
