Note to self

When worrying about preventing sunburn for your children, do not forget about yourself.

I religiously applied sunscreen yesterday to both kids. Bryce escaped any sunburn at all (a good thing since he's the fairer of the two) and Caroline had just a teeny tiny bit on her shoulders which is gone this morning. I only applied it once on me and ended up with a bright red back and some burn on my face.

I guess it's true what the flight attendents tell you prior to your plane taking off, if the cabin suddenly loses pressure, put the mask on you first so you'll be able to take care of your children later. Not that sunburn is quite as dire of a situation, but I think it's the same principle.

Sunburn on your back is the worst-- well, besides your feet. Try Neutrogena's After Sun product & some cold aloe vera.

I once did the Bay Bridge Walk and got torched so bad on my back that I thought I was going to die. I couldn't even wear a bra for two weeks. That's how my paranoia about sunburn started.

I'm right there with ya,except that I didn't even do myself once! Thankfully, the severe pain is easing- now it's just a dull ache. But as long as my kiddoes escaped it, I'm happy! Katie has some good ideas- too bad I didn't read them yesterday....
