Caroline's Concert

The half hour preceeding bedtime for Caroline has proven to be the time that some of the funniest things happen with Caroline. Whether it be the things she says, the dances she does or the songs she sings, her antics at this time of the day always prove to remind me how lucky I am to be her mother. Last night was no different.

After baths, we were all in Caroline's room - Bryce was playing with the dollhouse in true Bryce fashion and Caroline had just gotten dressed and put on The Incredibles mask I had printed out for her earlier in the day. (I'll have to post pictures of that later.) She announced that it was time for all of us to "go to the concert" and that she needed to close the door to her room so that we could be at the concert. Jason closed the door and it began...."Everybody, you've got to sing along with me!"

"THERE'S A COW IN THE HOUSE, THERE'S A COW IN THE HOUSE. IT IS PEEING IN THE HOUSE. IT IS PEEING IN THE HOUSE. WHAT DO WE DO? WHAT DO WE DO? WHAT DO WE DO?"

At this point, she stops singing and says, "Everyone you have to sing along!" So Jason and I start "singing" with her and just repeating the song over and over. She is dancing around and kicking up her legs with so much gusto by this point that Bryce has to join in. His style of dancing is usually just running around in circles but he'll mix in a little bit of funny arm movements too.

After another verse of the cow song, she says, "I need you all to sing LOUDER! Let's go!"

Jason and I launch into more singing and they both continue dancing wildly. We were laughing so hard by this point because of the fervor of their dancing and Caroline's very loud and emotional singing that we could barely get the lines out.

Finally, after a few more minutes of the cow song, I asked her what the next song was and she started in on some song about a butterfly she made up in her head. But it didn't reach the fever pitch that the cow song did.

I don't know where she comes up with this stuff sometimes but it's hilarious. And to see her fancy dance moves are pretty great too. I hope we'll have more "concerts" like this.
