Busy Days

We've definitely had a very busy past couple of days! Let's see if I can sum up....

Friday - I had the pleasure of lunching with Bracken, Jenna and their sweet little girl, Sydney, at the most delicious PEI WEI restaurant. Bracken is my former supervisor and recently moved south with her family sadly leaving our office behind. :( But they were back up our way for a visit and it was so great seeing them. Sydney is almost exactly between the two of my kids, so it was fun playing with her - she's such a high spirited, funny little kid. I wish my two had been there to play with her. Must be the mom in me, but we were friends pretty quickly and she was even trusting me to throw her Teddy to her. Then after Jay and I got home from work, we gave the kids a quick meal and ran to Home Depot to pick up Mother's Day plants along with tomato plants and soil for our garden.

Saturday - Jay headed down to the beach club in the continuing efforts to have the place ready for opening on Memorial Day weekend (how is it so close???). When he got home, he headed out to start digging up and enlarging the garden. Whew! The only problem of having such thick grass is that it's very hard to dig up. So once both kids were asleep for naptime, I went out and helped. Thank goodness b/c he was running out of steam. Once the hard labor was done, Caroline came out and watched as I planted all of our veggie seedlings and tomato plants. I have hopes of having tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, pumpkins, zucchini, broccoli and red onions this year. Hopefully the bees will pollenate this year! Then after a delicious dinner (which featured grilled asparagus!) we took the kids to Rita's for some yummy ices. We decided NOT to eat it there and the entire (short) drive home Bryce kept saying, "I want it! I want it!" Both kids ate happily and ended up spilling their treat, but what do you expect when the cups are narrower at the bottom than at the top?

Sunday: Slept till 8am! (WEEEEE!) And after Jay was done mowing the lawn, we went to my mom's for the day. Such a nice day and the kids had a great time. I made my Lemon Poke Cake and we had a signature "Bertie" meal with lots of veggies and none too common dishes. Yum! It was a very nice Mother's Day!

We almost went to Pei Wei on Friday too! Glad to hear you had a nice weekend. If only every Sunday was Mother's Day.

Erika, It was great to see you on Friday! We are safely back in GA now, but it sure was nice to be back for a visit. Glad to hear you had a nice mother's day. Mine was spent 10+ hours in the car:>:>
