Swimming Lessons and Pie

Caroline had her first swimming lesson last night. I signed her up a few weeks ago through the YMCA and the class was held at the indoor pool at our local community college. It was only 30 minutes, but she was so darn cute. I was so proud of her because even though she was the youngest and smallest kid in the class, she was the best listener and didn't have any fear when the teacher put her on her back to float or when she had to jump in the water. All the other kids were either petrified of the water or kept letting go of the wall and not following instructions. She was instant friends with a few of the other kids too and has been talking non-stop about them. When she got out of the pool though, she was very sad and wanted to get back in. I promised her we'd come next week and that soon it would be time to start going to "Daddy's Beach Club" and Bertie's pool too where she could show everyone what she was learning.

It's funny because, even though Jay and I were both lifeguards and I was even a Red Cross certified swimming instructor, I think the benefits of a class taught by a non-parent is so beneficial. I know we could teach her to swim and I'm sure we'll work on it with her, but there's just something different about a class.

And while Caroline and I were at swim class, Bryce and Daddy had "boy time" (as Caroline calls it). Jay said that after dinner he asked Bryce if he wanted any pie - leftover from Pop Pop's birthday. Bryce, of course, replied, "No" as he always does these days. But when Jay gave him his bowl of banana cream pie, all Bryce did after each bite was say, "Mmmmm, pie!" My little monkey and his pie....

Oh and here's a picture of them from this weekend being silly (and oh, so cute!). Caroline was so excited to have him on her lap for some reason - but as you can see, he's not too much smaller than her anymore. So much for her "little" brother.
