Not Quite as Perfect....

I went over to meet the director of the daycare center and see the place. It was really amazing and I'm very impressed with both the director and the facility. However, it doesn't look like Caroline will be starting there this summer/fall. Apparently the center is having to change their policies that they no longer can accomodate part-time (MWF or TTh) kids. :(

She said that there is potential, but it's less likely since we'd have to be matched w/ someone who wanted the opposite days we wanted. And even if we did, we wouldn't know that until the last minute and then have to spring it on Cathy - and that's not fair. So I think we're going to shelve this until next year since I just don't think I'm ready to put her into a 5 day a week full day program. She'll be ready next year though and I know she'll love it.

In the meantime, I'm getting her enrolled in some swimming lessons on Saturdays and looking for some other opportunities to get her in classroom situations. But I just get really frustrated because so many programs are catered toward families where one parent stays at home. Those programs are definitely needed since there are a lot of SAHMs, but there are a LOT of parents who work full time out there too. Seeing the lack of programming that is open to full time working parents makes me feel even more guilty about working....but then, it's not exactly an option for us so I guess I just have to suck it up and deal.

that is so unfortunate that it won't work out this year but I am sure she will have tons of fun with the other activities.

Full day does seem like a lot for a 3-4 year old. Something else will turn up.
