"I rubbed it on my parts."

Both kids passed out quickly last night by 7:30 because they had such a busy day with the ILs and then I took them on a walk where Caroline proceeded to RUN almost the entire time. (She has a new fascination with Dash from The Incredibles and thinks she can run really fast like him.) So we were happy that they were both ASLEEP and in bed so early. But at 3am, Jason heard Caroline in her room just talking away and 10 minutes later, she was standing in our room looking out the window. Here's a run down of this interaction:

Jason: "Caroline, what are you doing?"

Caroline: "I'm just looking out the window."

Jason: "It's too early for you to be up, you need to go back to sleep."

Caroline as they are walking back to her room: "But, I can't sleep."

Jason: "Why can't you sleep?"

Caroline: "Because my thumb smells like blueberries."

Jason: "Why does your thumb smell like blueberries?"

Caroline points to the bottle of berry handsoap that she had brought into her room sometime in the middle of the night that is sitting on the book shelf next to her bed.

Caroline: "I rubbed it on my parts."

At this point, Jason realizes the whole room smells "like blueberries" and realizes she's rubbed it all over herself. He takes her into the bathroom and has her wash her hands (lots of bubbles!) and makes sure she doesn't have it on her face.

Caroline: "I'm sorry, Daddy."

She went right back to sleep now that her thumb no longer was coated in antibacterial berry hand soap, but this morning when I went in, I couldn't believe how strongly her room still smelled like it. I asked her where she had rubbed the soap and she said,

"I rubbed it on my hands, my feet, and my nose."

So I took her and put her feet in my sink and as I'm watching bubbles form, I realize it's probably all over her legs too since she didn't wear any pants last night. At this point I decided to let her take a shower (her fav!) and she washed all the blueberry off of her. Needless to say, the hand soap is now taking an extended stay in the bathroom linen closet which has one of those child safety handles on it so it will be safe from prowling little girls looking for blueberry soap in the middle of the night.

I'd like to leave it out, but she still can't turn on the water in the sink by herself after using the potty, so basically, we have to be there anyway, so it might as well be put away. Along with toothpaste and any other seemingly harmless hygiene product. I swear, I don't know where she comes up with these things.

I know what you mean about the soap - as soon as you put it on Kenzie's hands she moves it into her mouth and try to eat it!!!! Since when do kids really want soap in their mouths!!!

You should be glad she didn't "lather" up Bryce too!
