A Slight Change in the Wind

Well as I'm sure you all know, I've always said that Bryce is a real mommy's boy. Everything has been "Mommy, mommy, mommy!" the past few months and even since he was born, I've often been the only person that can calm him down when he's really upset. But just in the past day or so, he's really been latching onto "Daddy, daddy, daddy!" He's not going to Daddy when he's upset yet, but he loves saying it over and over and goes around the house trying to find him. So maybe he'll give me a teeny break - but at least it gives Jason a taste of what it's been like for me the past 16 months. Not that I'm complaining because I love what a cuddler he can be sometimes and there's just nothing better than his hugs and little pats.

He's also shown us some interesting behaviors in the past few days too. For instance, when he gets really mad about something and WANTS something and can't have it, he'll shove whatever is closest to him in his mouth and then just sits there with this dejected look on his face. Maybe it's a peaceful (passive aggresive) protest? This afternoon I was playing Little People with both kids and he wanted to have both of the little yellow cars. Well, I got one away from his death grip (while he's screaming loudly!) and he looks at me and shoves the entire head of a Little People (Person?) into his mouth. He did this yesterday with something else too. Weedo!

This morning Caroline and I went to the mall to do some shopping. I used my Macy's gift card and did a few quick exchanges. Man, I love the mall in January. Granted, I got there by 10:30, but the place was just so calm. Got a great parking place, no waiting in lines and good sales. I ended up getting 2 pairs of shoes (both black...I know Jason, how many black shoes can I have?) and a sweater, jeans, and a long sleeve shirt. And I spent less than $10 of my own money. Yahoo! I would have liked to browse the sales racks at Macy's a while longer, but Caroline was obviously bored and went through her surprise apple juice box and Backyardigans snack rather quickly in the shoes dept - our 2nd stop. So with my solemn promise to myself to never subject my kids to longer than needed shopping trips (can you tell I had a few of them as a kid?) we finished up our errands and went home.

They're calling for some "wintry" weather tomorrow. Joy. Not that it will be anything exciting, but it will just make for a lovely commute on Monday morning, I'm sure.

Sydney cracks me up because she has started to put her hand up to your face and push it if she feels you are not looking at what she wants you to look at. She forces your face to that direction and tells you to look. I am impressed at how strong she is. It is funny at this age the things they do. It sounds like Bryce is really growing up!!

Let it snow! But not too much.
