Another Saturday night...

Well it was a nice Saturday - nothing exciting, but that's okay. Took the kids over to my mom's with my sister this evening and Jay stayed home since his stomach wasn't feeling well. While we were there, my dad put in a video of my grandfather's from 1977, so my kids got to see me as a newborn. Caroline was enthralled! She kept saying, "There's you, Mommy!" I think it's pretty cool that my kids not only have access to LOTS of pictures of their parents as babies, but also to a video of me, at least. There are only a few pictures of my parents as babies since pictures in the 1950's were still a big deal. I'm sure my grandkids will practically feel like they have experienced their own parent's childhood since we take pictures of them almost daily and videos quite often too.

I also started with a migrane at my mom's and I'm wondering if it was b/c of the glass of red wine I had before dinner. My mom promptly gave me Excedrin Migrane and I think I thwarted it. I also had a big cup of coffee. I don't feel 100% like me, but at least I'm not laying in the dark in pain. What is up w/ these migranes?

Caroline is spending the night with my parents too and I brought Bryce home to a house the stinks like a brewery. Jay decided to whip up his next batch of home brew, so it smells like malt and some other yucky stuff. It will be good when it's made, but right now it doesn't even smell like beer.

Viv posted another survey, so I just gotta take it.....Toodles!

1. How long have you been a Mom? Since December 2003

2. How many children call you Mommy? 2 - Bryce is QUITE good with this word

3. Girl? Boy? or both? I got a perfect set!

4. Did you know what you were having? With C, we were pretty sure, but not 100%, but with Bryce there was NO doubt. We got the money shot at his u/s - he was quite proud, even then.

5. How old were you when you became a Mom? 26, but only a few weeks from 27

6. How long were you in labor? With Caroline, they started the pitocin at 7am the first time and she was born at 9:49pm after 2 hours of pushing! With Bryce they started the pitocin at 9am and he was born at 6:21pm - after only 5 pushes. (Having a 2nd baby ROCKS!)

7.Your favorite thing about being a Mom? Cuddles, unsolicited hugs/kisses/"I love you"s, and chats

8. What's your least favorite thing? Feeding them - they never want to eat what you feed them and cleaning them up afterward- MESS!

9. Do you want more kids? Yes - probably only 1 more

10. Do you plan on having more soon? Within the next year, no. But maybe soon after that.

11. How many times have you been peed on? Never really peed on w/ C, but Bryce got me in the hospital. Watch out for the fire hose!

12. Puked on? Actual puke, twice when Caroline had the rotavirus. But Bryce was such a barfer as a baby, I LIVED with baby barf on me.

13. Is your child named after anyone? Caroline's middle name is Elizabeth b/c it's his maternal grandmother's middle name. Bryce's middle name is Mitchell after the town my dad was born in (and his whole family is from) in South Dakota.

14. How did you come up with their names? Their first names are just b/c we liked them so much.

15. When your child gets in trouble, who is the bad guy? We both are although Jay tends to be the one that startles them the most and I'm the one that is most consistent with time outs.

16. And who is the good guy? Whoever isn't the one doing the disciplining.

17. What is the longest you have been away from your children? 24 hours. Too long.

18. Bedtime routine? Bath, teeth brushing, book(s), BED

19. Are your toes painted? And when would I have time to do that?

20. Last movie you saw in the theatre? Charlotte's Web (w/ C)

21. One thing you will not give up just because you're a mom? Howard Stern (but not when they are in earshot.)

22. One thing you did give up now that you're a mom. Sleeping in

23. Best Mom perk? This is terrible, but people don't always expect as much from you since you are obviously very busy. Not that it's not totally true, but if you don't call someone back right away or write a thank you note quickly, they realize it's nothing personal, its just you have kids.

24. Snack you sneak bites from your child? Chocolate pudding

25. When the kid is napping, you are? Online

26. Where is your child(ren) now? Bryce is in bed and C is at my mom's

27. Favorite place to buy maternity clothes? Motherhood

28. If I could do it over, I'd do this differently.....I don't think anything. Sure there are things I wish were different, but in terms of going back and re-doing them, I wouldn't change a thing. Well, maybe I would have slept more before kids and appreciated the free time I had then.
