Lunchtime = Survey Time

It's my lunchtime - time to do some surveys I found on myspace....

Welcome to the 2006 Holiday Survey

1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? I like soy egg nog the BEST - but it's hard to find.

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Jay and I wrap all of one another's gifts, but as the kids get older, I plan on wrapping some and making a "toyland" for them out of their other gifts. It's how my mom did it for us and I always loved it.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white? We have white b/c we bought our first fake tree last year (I've had real all my life!) and we couldn't find a realistic looking fake one w/ colored lights. So I settled for white lights since my tree looks real. (But I'm partial to colored!)

4. Do you hang mistletoe? Some fake plastic stuff.

5. When do you put your decorations up? Day after Thanksgiving - a good thing about fake trees is you can put them up early!

6. What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? Baked macaroni like my Nanny always made.

7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child: Singing Christmas songs with my brother and sister outside running around the neighbor's tree all lit up. And going to see the Nutcracker ballet every year with my family. Oh and having my birthday near Christmas is kinda cool too.

8.When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? In 4th grade the 2nd graders wrote letters to Santa and my teacher had the brilliant idea to have the 4th/5th split class answer them. The teacher started by saying, "You all know there's no such thing as Santa." I was CRUSHED! I learned later my mother gave her a piece of her mind. But somehow my parents managed to convince me a little more that year that there was still some magic I didn't know about. Then in 5th grade I finally let myself truly believe it.

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? When it was just Jay and I we would, but not anymore.

10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree? With all my Hallmark Keepsake ornaments my MeeMaw bought me over the years and with any other random special ornaments. Caroline and Bryce have quite a collection now too.

11. Snow! Love it or Dread it? I like it up until January 1 b/c it feels magic. Anything after that sucks.

12. Can you ice skate? Oh goodness no. I'm terrible. I went for the first time in 8th grade and was barely moving and the dumb penguin character skating around the ice made me skate in the middle with him. I was so embarrased and my friends made fun of me. I've skated a few times since, but I'm not very good. Weak ankles.

13. Do you remember your favorite gift? My parents got me this dollhouse called "Smaller Homes" and I loved it.

14. What's the most important thing about the Holidays for you? Being with my family

15. What is your favorite Holiday Dessert? Pumpkin Bread Pudding

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition? Going down to the Inner Harbor for Tuba Christmas - my dad plays every year and standing outside in that ampi-theatre listening to that mellow Christmas music in a festive setting always makes me happy. Then we go to Cap City Brewery for dinner!

17. What tops your tree? Nothing. No room!

18. Which do you prefer? -- Giving or Receiving? Giving gifts, receiving smiles and appreciation!

19. What is your favorite Christmas Song? Rockin Around the Christmas Tree, The Christmas Song, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, and All I Want For Christmas is You

20. Candy Canes! Yuck or Yum? Like 'em. But the weird thing, they are just the same thing as those dumb starlite mints, but b/c they are shaped like candy canes, I love them. I love peppermint.
