Smells Like Fall

I was just out walking across campus for a meeting and it hit me, it smells like fall. What is it about this time of the year with that little bit of crispness in the air that makes you think back to times when you were a kid and of Halloween, pumpkins, and hay rides?? Maybe it's the smell of the leaves turning from their summery green to the lovely shades of orange, yellow, red and brown. I don't know, but I have always loved this time of year. It's not cold yet, but it's a welcome break from the heat of the summer. Makes me want to rake some leaves and have my kids jump in. Although we never really have leaves in our yard and jumping in a pile of leaves is more than it's cracked up to be since they aren't that fluffy and you usually get poked by some tree limb that got raked into the bunch or landing with a thump on the ground. Either that or you get the scratchy leaves in your coat or some nasty little bug that survived the first freeze of the season and you're itching like crazy. But hey, it's fall. Christmas will be here before we know it!!!

Anyone want to go and buy some pumpkins?

I totally agree about fall- definitely my fave, even when it meant back to school. I'm so jealous of you being on a college campus- at least you KINDA feel like you're in school (does that make me a dork?) And yes, I'd definitely go pumpkin picking with you!!!!
