Potty Seat No More

Caroline has decided that she no longer needs to use a potty seat on top of the big toilet when she goes. She also will not use a step stool to get on. So she has this very strange way of "mounting" the toilet by stepping up on it and then kind of walking around and easing her way down on it. It takes her a fairly long time to get situated, but don't you dare try to help her or a tantrum will start. She also asks for privacy a lot (but not all the time) and the other night I went back in and she was wiping the floor with some wet toilet paper. Why was it wet? She had dunked it in the pee water and was "cleaning" the floor. UGH! We had a conversation about not touching the inside of the toilet after that.

We're also experimenting with using an egg timer to remind her (and us) to use the potty on a regular basis. So far it's been VERY helpful in getting her to use the potty since it's the timer telling her to go instead of mommy or daddy. (A neutral party) The only problem is if we don't use it, she's still not going on her own. I'm also worried that timer will turn her into Pavlov's dog and she will only go when it goes off or that she will think she isn't supposed to go until it rings. Like last night, she had a lot of juice with dinner and while she went when the timer went off she must have had to go again in less than an hour and didn't make it to the potty.

Of course everytime she uses the potty now she says, "Mommy, I'm potty trained, time to get the Diego Rescue Center!" If only it were that easy!
