Traffic BS

It took me an hour to get to work today. An hour to go 15 miles is bull shit. (And don't get me started on paying $3 for a gallon of gas!) Usually I can get here in about 30-35 minutes, but today there were 2 accidents on the beltway and it just seemed I could NOT get moving. I even had a really good start to the day and even left daycare a few minutes early. I stopped at Food Lion to pick up some OJ and coffee creamer to go along with the bagels I had bought for Rachael's (my GA) last day. This is probably the thing I hate most about working - the commuting. It sucks over an hour out of my day. The only good thing is that having Sirius makes the drive so much more bearable. Tuesday I was laughing so hard at some antics on the Howard Stern show I'm sure I looked like a raving lunatic driving down the road. And when they go to a commercial, there are some great commercial free music stations to listen to. I heart satellite.

The other thing I realized this morning is that Caroline has been having some great mornings and I think it's all due to the checklist. While she hasn't done everything without some cajolling (sp?), I haven't had to make her do anything. Usually if she doesn't do it when I ask, I give her the choice to do it herself or have mommy do it and she always chooses to do it herself. (This is a great parenting trick I got from The Parenting Coach www.theparentingcoach.com .) It gives them a sense of control over a situation b/c they have a "choice." Of course, you and I both know it's not really a choice, but to a 2 year old, it's like freedom.
